The current state of digital radio broadcasting both in Russia and in the world is presented. Digiton Systems LLC carried out a high-power field trial of the DRM system in DRM Simulcast mode by order of the Russian Television and Radio Broadcasting Network (RTRN) in the FM band 87.5−108 MHz in St. Petersburg (Russian Federation) from July 2019 to December 2020. The transmitter was set to radiate at 95.9 MHz FM signal with a transmit power of 3 kW and DRM signal with a transmit power of 800 W simultaneously. The article presents the results of these studies. The results of evaluating the electromagnetic compatibility of FM and DRM broadcasting formats are also described.

  • A.S. Muthanna, SPbSUT, department of CN&DT, associate professor, Ph.D.; ammarexpress@gmail.com
  • A.I. Vybornova, SPbSUT, department of CN&DT, associate professor, Ph.D.; a.vybornova@gmail.com

Keywords: edge computing, MEC, genetic algorithms, service offloading.

The possibility of hosting Internet services both in remote clouds and in distributed edge computing systems is considered. Dynamic network topology and placement of services in edge computing systems using a genetic algorithm to analyze and predict service traffic are proposed. Effective methods for forecasting and predictive migration of services for edge computing systems are presented. An analysis of the problems of constructing high-load networks and the method of their solution by offloading services to edge peripheral devices are given. A model of interactions between the network operator and third-party service providers for optimal offloading of services is proposed. It is shown that the efficiency of network equipment can be increased by more than 30%.

  • N.A. Chistova, Saint-Petersburg State University of Telecommunications (SPbSUT), department of communication networks and data transmission (CN&DT), postgraduate; chistova.na@spbgut.ru

  • A.E. Koucheryavy, SPbSUT, head of the department of CN&DT, professor, Dr.Sci.(Tech.); akouch@mail.ru

Keywords: ultra-low latency telecommunication networks, digital cluster, fractal dimension, signal propagation delay.

The paper proposes a method for sizing digital clusters in ultra-low latency networks, taking into account the lengths of connecting lines. Calculation of linear dimensions only on the basis of delay requirements does not take into account the peculiarities of laying communication lines, the length of which is greater than the obtained estimates, which negatively affects the temporal characteristics. The paper proposes a method that takes into account the peculiarities of laying communication lines based on estimates of the fractal dimension of the road network. The proposed method can be used in the planning and design of ultra-low latency networks.

TACTILE SIGNALS FORMATION IN THE PROBLEM OF LOSSY COMPRESSION FOR THE FACTOR ADDITIVE MODEL OF PERCEPTION

  • S.A.Vladimirov, Saint-Petersburg State University of Telecommunications, department of the communication networks and data transmission, senior lecturer; vlsa.vlcom@yandex.ru
  • E.V. Kosova, I.P. Pavlov First Saint-Petersburg State Medical University, department of therapeutic dentistry and periodontology, associate professor, Ph.D.(Med.); kosova.ev@bk.ru

Keywords: lossy compression, tactile signal, tactile mode, factor additive model.

The article considers the issue of formation and presentation of tactile modes signals for the problem of lossy compression in the framework of the factor additive model. The authors outlined approaches and implemented the basic principles of determining levels and ranges of tactile signals. A variant of the model is proposed and the functional structure of the tactile mode is determined. The implementation of time windows to improve the reliability of the operator’s tactile signals is proposed. It is shown that the considered problem will make it possible to implement a tactile encoder for data transmission networks based on lossy compression.

  • A.I. Paramonov, Saint-Petersburg State University of Telecommunications (SPbSUT), department of communication networks and data transmission (CN&DT), professor, Dr.Sci.(Tech.); alex-in-spb@yandex.ru
  • A.E. Koucheryavy, SPbSUT, head of the department of CN&DT, professor, Dr.Sci.(Tech.); akouch@mail.ru

Keywords: Internet of Things, IoT, fractal, fractal dimension, network structure, environment structure.

The paper proposes a method for planning the structure of the Internet of Things network based on the use of fractals. It is proposed to use fractal figures to describe the target environment, which determines the placement of network devices. The values of the estimate of the fractal dimension and the fraction of the area occupied by the target environment and the network model are used for planning. The results obtained can be used to describe the structure of the IoT network in an urban or other environment based on data obtained about the target environment in the form of plans, maps, or photographs.
