Russian 3D-TV innovation technologies

JSC «MNITI» together Russian companies JSC «Elecard Devices» and «Triakses Vision» developed an innovative concept compatible with the existing population in both analog and digital television of the Russian system of three-dimensional digital television 2D/3D DVB-T. This development was presented at 63 International Exhibition «Ideas-invention — New Products» IENA-2011 (Nuremberg) and awarded a silver medal, diplomas and cups show. This success clearly demonstrates that in Russia held a world-class innovation in digital television. Key words: 2D/3D DVB-T, digital television, IENA-2011.

Breaks in satellite communications channels concerning DVB transmitting

Possible breaks in satellite communications channels in the Ku and Ka frequency bands are investigated on the basis of Recommendation ITU-R P.1623−1. As an example characteristics of communications interruptions in the Ku and Ka frequency bands are resulted during transfer of several multiplexes of a digital broadcasting (DVB) with use of future satellites «Express-AM5» and «Express-АМ6». DVB-S2 satellite standard is used and optimum signal-code constructors for DVB channels are chosen.
Key words: digital broadcasting, multiplex, frequency band, recommendation, satellite, interruption of communications.

Digital radio broadcasting under 30 MHz. Illusions and reality. Part 1

The article gives comparative analysis of operation of a digital and several types of analog broadcasting systems in low and medium frequency ranges during daytime. Real natural behavior of signals is taken into account, and results of the foreign tests are analyzed. It is shown, that in some cases DRM required higher signal level, than it was expected earlier. It is concluded that because of different propagation conditions in different world regions, additional study of local specific conditions is required to assess reasonability of introduction of digital system. Key words: medium frequency, DRM, world regions, digital system.

Microcable in microduct system’s freezing water resistance

Results of test of «Microcable in microduct» system stability to effect of water freezing in protective polymer tube are represented. It is shown this system is steadier to water freezing in comparison to lighten optical cable in protective polymer tube.
Key words: microcable in microduct system, protective polymer tube, optical cable, water freezing test.

An optical fiber transmission system’s spectral efficiency

Performance characteristics of optical fiber systems are being analyzed from the standpoint of system theory. Spectral efficiency limits are being evaluated within the modifications of Shannon limit. The results of Shannon efficiency of optical fiber system calculations are presented. Wave-spectrum efficiency factor is proposed for optical fiber systems and its relationship to spectral efficiency is shown.
Key words: fiber-optic communications, spectral efficiency, Shannon efficiency, Shannon limit, spectral and wavelength efficiency.

Characteristics of a single span DWDM system with 40 Gbit/s DPSK channels at 50 GHz grid

Characteristics of single span DWDM communication system with differential phase modulation signal (NRZ ADPSK) at 40 Gbit/s were experimentally investigated. Required OSNR dependence on signal power, chromatic dispersion and dispersion map was investigated for single 100 km SMF-fiber link. Minimum value of required OSNR obtained to be 11,3 dB. Optimum power into the fiber link obtained to be 15 dBm. Experimental results proved the workability of light-wave systems based on 40 Gbit/s NRZ ADPSK channels at 50 GHz grid.
Key words: optical communications, spectral multiplexing (WDM), differential phase modulation, optical signal to noise ratio (OSNR), harmonic distortion, crosstalk.

Analyzing distinction in fiber’s chromatic dispersion impact on signals and related reading errors

The article is devoted to distortion caused by chromatic dispersion (CD) action parameters in optical fiber lines. Is shown, that the CD action essentially depends on of a pulse duration and from a steepness of its fronts, that is not taken into account in known model of considered effect. The change of duration and a pulse form on an output optical fiber lines is received depending on entrance parameters of a pulse.
The algorithm allowing to execute correction of a pulse distortion, considered on the basis of CD coefficient measurements, is submitted.
Key words: digital signal, chromatic dispersion, a pulse duration, a pulse distortion, a pulse form, a pulse chirp, optical fiber lines.
